About Cookies

Another member of the bakery family would be cookies. Cookies are baked according to how hard it is supposed to be. They come in a wide variety based on the ingredients used such as sugars, spices, chocolate, butter, peanut butter, nuts or dried fruits.

The difference between cakes and cookies is that cakes uses water to create the fluffiness and cookies mostly uses oils. Oils such as butter, egg yolk, vegetable oil evaporates faster therefore it is able to create the texture of a cookie.

Category Of Cookies

• Drop Cookies are made from soft dough that is dropped by spoons onto the baking sheet. During baking, the dough spread and flatten. Example of Drop Cookies (Chocolate chip cookies).

• Refrigerator Cookies are made from a stiff dough that is refrigerated to make it even stiffer. It is then shaped into cylinders which are sliced into round cookies which are prepared for baking.

• Molded Cookies are also made from a stiff dough that is molded into balls or cookie shapes by hand before baking. Example of Molded Cookies (Snickerdoodles).

• Rolled Cookies are made from a stiff dough that is rolled out and cut into shapes using a cookie cutter. Example of Rolled Cookies (GingerBreadMan).

• Bar Cookies consists of batter or other ingredients that are poured or added into a pan, and shaped into cookie-sized pieces after baking. Example of Rolled Cookies (Brownies).
